Here are a couple of my favorite simple vegan creamers that I love to enjoy with my coffee or roasted dandelion root tea, chicory tea, or rooibos tea.
There are 2 ways to make both of these recipes – the simple way and then the extra simple way. You can make your own nut milk from scratch while adding in the additional ingredients or you can use a premade nut milk, and then just blend in the other ingredients. If you are making your own nut milk, you’ll want to soak the almond ahead of time in preparation. These recipes are, in my opinion, so much better than store bought creamers because you can customize them to your taste… if you like your creamer sweeter, stronger, thicker, then you can adjust the ingredients to your liking.
Vanilla Pumpkin Spice Creamer
- 1 cup of Soaked almonds
- 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree
- 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 3-5 Pitted dates – you can also substitute agave, sugar, honey or maple syrup as a sweetener
- 2 cups Water
- 1 tsp Arrowroot powder for a thickener.
Add all of your ingredients into the a blender or Vitamix and blend thoroughly until most of the nuts are ground to a pulp – usually around 2 minutes of blending. Pour your creamer into a nut milk bag or cheese cloth and squeeze the pulp to strain out all of the liquid. Be sure to keep the pulp to use in a multitude of recipes that require flour.
Cacao Peppermint creamer
- 1 cup of Soaked almonds
- 1/4 cup raw Cacao powder
- a dash of Peppermint extract
- 3-5 Pitted dates – you can also substitute agave, sugar, honey or maple syrup as a sweetener
- 2 cups Water
- 1 tsp Arrowroot powder for a thickener.
Again we’ll start with our ingredients for the almond milk base by using soaked almonds and water in a 1 to 2 ratio. Add in the arrowroot powder thickener, the raw cacao powder, pitted dates, and just a dash of peppermint extract – a little peppermint extract goes a long way! Blend all the ingredients together to a pulp for about 2 minutes and strain through a nut milk bag or cheese cloth.
Both creamers are now ready to add to your favorite hot tea or coffee. Store refrigerated in an airtight jar and they will keep for up to 5 days. Remember to shake well before using as they tend to separate. Also remember, the best part about these recipes is that they are easy to customize to taste.
I hope that you enjoy these 2 very simple creamers to dress up your warm drinks this holiday season and beyond.
